Rescue teams work to recover people from the building collapse in Ashdod

Two people were seriously injured on Thursday evening as a result of a collapse of a building in Ashdod, which apparently collapsed due to the explosion of a gas balloon.

MDA paramedics, accompanied by firefighting and rescue teams, arrived at the site and began providing medical treatment for the two wounded who were found at the site, while searching for trapped persons in the building.

According to the reports of forces present at the site, the building was two stories high, and the explosion caused the ceiling of the first floor to collapse and injured the occupants of the building.

Avi Amar, a member of the Ihud Hatzala motorcycle unit, reported from the scene of the incident that "when I arrived at the site with an ambulance crew of Ihud Hatzala, we saw a lot of destruction in the building, which partially collapsed."
